In beauty news 50′s style singer Janelle Monae is featured in the latest campaign for CoverGirl! According to Theybf the Kansas City fashionista will be featured in a 10-page campaign spread in VOGUE’s September 2012 issue.
Monae shared her excitement with Vogue, dishing on everything from her makeup preferences to her beauty inspirations, “Growing up and trying to find myself as a woman and experimenting with makeup, I’d go buy magazines…I’d see Tyra Banks [in the CoverGirl ads] and I’d think, Wow, she’s beautiful. It never looked like she had on too much makeup. There was just something clean and classic about her face.”

If you haven’t heard, Rihanna released her much anticipated “Where Have You Been” music video over the weekend and it is definitely hot! In the video Rihanna is spotted in everything from lace bodysuits and tribal jewelry to animal print bodysuits and harem pants.
Besides the fashion on the set I was also intrigued by Rihanna’s makeup. Luckily MTV style sat down with Rihanna’s ‘makeup Artist, Kabuki, to discuss the secrets and vision for the ‘Where Have You Been video.
